Castle South Face

Castle Southwest Turret
The Castle was in a serious state of disrepair by the time renovation work began in late 1999.  The roof leaked throughout the house, and the magnificent front porch had been replaced with a lean-to roof.
Most of the elegant curved turret windows had been broken out and boarded over. The house interior was very dark, especially in the West sitting room.

Foyer Southwest Corner
The back entry had been boarded to protect the kitchen from winter winds. The entry door had been moved from the south wall on the porch to the east wall, but this has been restored to its original architecture.

The inside corners of the entry foyer had been badly damaged by water, including major structural damage to the load-bearing wall and joists.

Renovations began in late fall 1999, continued through 2000, and drew out well into 2001.
